My Pet Lion

I wonder how it would be to have a lion for a pet.
Pretty neat, I bet.
I could teach him how to bark like a hound,
And how to play fetch,
And roll on the ground
I could use him to scare away bullies at school
And all of the kids would think I was cool
If I had a lion for a pet.

If I had a lion for a pet
I wonder what kind of stuff he would eat
Probably two and a half truckloads of meat
But what if my lion didn’t eat meat at all?
What if he ate kids …
About three and a half feet tall?
No, I don’t think I would like that at all!

Maybe I’ll just get a dog.

Dancing Day

Hooray! Hooray!
Today is the day!
Today is the day that we dance and we play
And we sing and we swing as we go on our way
So come along with us, it’s not far away
Where everyone’s happy and nothing is grey
To the land where we’ll sing and we’ll dance
And we’ll stay.

I saw a dragonfly go by
This morning right at dawn

I jumped, I grabbed, he breathed on me …
Now all my hair is gone.

I sat down
to write you
a poem

As it turns out,
I’ve got
to say.
